MELVINDALE — A 43-year-old Lincoln Park man was arrested the night of April 7 near Outer Drive and Dix Road when he jumped a curb and got stuck atop a light pole base in his red Ford Mustang.

Witnesses said the crash originated in the Lincoln Park portion of the intersection, so Lincoln Park police officers were contacted.

The vehicle was running and in gear while the man drifted in and out of consciousness, so a Melvindale police officer opened the car’s passenger side door, put the vehicle in park, turned it off and removed the keys.

This angered the man, who swore at the police officer. The man admitted to being intoxicated, and a record check revealed past drunken driving offenses.

Because he was angry and combative, the man was handcuffed and restrained until Lincoln Park police officers arrived to take him into custody.
