MELVINDALE — A 25-year-old man who may have been abusing nitrous oxide, also known as Whippets, was arrested the afternoon of June 4 after he physically assaulted his 64-year-old mother.
The man’s parents, who met the responding police officers in their front yard in the 3600 block of McKitrick Street, said they fear for their safety, and said that their son’s substance abuse may have caused his violent behavior, and feel he may need to be institutionalized.
