MELVINDALE — A 28-year-old Detroit woman who ran a red light at 2:40 a.m. May 18 at Greenfield and Schafer, almost hitting a car with the right-of-way, was found to be operating while intoxicated.
A traffic stop was initiated, and the woman’s eyes were found to be glassy and bloodshot, and she smelled of alcohol.
A preliminary breath test was administered, and the woman had a blood-alcohol content of 0.165, more than twice the 0.08 limit for legally drunk in Michigan.
The driver also had a suspended license, and an open bottle of tequila in the vehicle. Her vehicle was impounded and towed, and she was cited for operating while intoxicated, driving with a suspended license, and running a red light.
