DEARBORN — A 40-year-old Dearborn man was fatally injured the morning of Dec. 31 when he lost control of his electric bicycle and struck a utility pole on Schaefer Road near Colson Street.

The bicyclist was not wearing a helmet or other protective gear.

Dearborn Fire Department personnel performed lifesaving measures at the scene and transported the man to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The Wayne County Medical Examiner’s Office will work with the Dearborn Police Department to determine the cause of death.
