HEIGHTS — A woman who tried to find a phone number online for Ticketmaster customer service Jan. 8 ended up connecting to a con artist who tricked her into buying an Apple gift card and giving her the code to supposedly transfer tickets.

The victim said she wanted to transfer her Detroit Pistons tickets to her brother, so she used Google to find a Ticketmaster help line. The con artist she inadvertently reached told her to purchase an Apple gift card for $313.50, and that she would assist with the ticket transfer.

When the tickets were not successfully transferred, the woman became suspicious, and her daughter helped her find an actual Ticketmaster help line.

The woman made a fraud report to the bank associated with the credit card she used to purchase the Apple gift card.
