SOUTHGATE — Detroit Lions clothing was stolen from Sam’s Club, 15700 Northline Road, Dec. 19 by a man who emptied cereal boxes, stuffed the clothing inside, then swiped the boxes through a self-checkout lane.
The actions, which were later discovered on surveillance camera footage, show the man stealing four Detroit Lions hoodies, five pairs of Adidas fleece pants and one Puma hoodie.
Discovery of the bags of cereal without their boxes triggered a review of surveillance camera footage, which revealed the crime.
While a man did the actual concealing of the clothing inside the cereal boxes, he was accompanied by an older woman. It is not known if the membership card swiped belonged to the man or not.
The man parked his vehicle outside of camera range, so a vehicle make or license plate number were not captured by surveillance footage.
