MELVINDALE — A 56-year-old Dearborn Heights man who was stopped at the intersection of Oakwood Boulevard and Allen Road on his way to pick up his girlfriend at the end of her shift at a nearby bar and grill shortly after midnight Jan.13, said when he rolled down his window because he thought the driver next to him was trying to get his attention, the other driver took offense and jumped angrily out of his car.
The other driver, who was in a blue Jeep Liberty, exited his vehicle and approached the complainant’s vehicle while appearing to have his hand on a gun in his pocket or waistband.
When the light changed, the victim said he turned and drove off away from his intended destination, so as not to lead the aggressor to his girlfriend’s workplace. The Jeep driver drove off in a different direction, so the man eventually went to the parking lot of his girlfriend’s workplace and summoned a police officer to report the incident.
The aggressor did not point the gun at the complainant, so it wasn’t considered a felony. However, brandishing a firearm is considered a misdemeanor offense.
