SOUTHGATE — A woman who wanted to boil water turned on the wrong burner and instigated a fire fueled by a greasy pot Jan. 13 in an apartment building on Cambridge Street.
A neighbor said they smelled smoke first, then saw smoke emanating from the neighboring apartment on their doorbell cam.
The neighbor was able to extinguish the stove fire prior to the arrival of first responders.
Firefighters evaluated and secured the scene, and medically evaluated and cleared the affected residents on scene.
