DEARBORN – The City Council approved an additional $68,628 to the Parks and Recreation city park comfort station upgrade budget at its March 18 meeting.

The increase was needed based on the discovery of broken underground pipes and design update needs identified during the post-demolition phase.

The budget increase will also help ensure full compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

The comfort stations at Hemlock and Ford Woods parks, as well as the shelter at Hemlock Park, are receiving upgrades for the first time in 25 years.

The Crowley Park comfort station, which was expanded in 2011, will receive upgraded plumbing and electrical equipment.
