HEIGHTS — A 63-year-old Dearborn Heights man reported March 5 that two separate attempts had been made to obtain unauthorized loans in his name from southeast Michigan credit unions.

He said he received a letter from Monroe Community Credit Union denying him a $9,500 loan, and later a letter from Extra Credit Union denying him as $20,075 loan.

Both loan applications had his full name, Social Security number, and either his home or business address.

The identity thief submitted pay stubs using the victim’s information to apply for the second loan.

The victim was advised to contact the Social Security Administration to advise them that his Social Security number had been compromised.
