DEARBORN — The Dearborn Public Schools City Wide Art show returns to the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center from April 1 to May 3.
The event will start with an opening reception from 4:30 to 7 p.m. April 1. The event is open to the public. The gallery — 15801 Michigan Ave. — is open from noon to 6 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, and from noon to 4 p.m. Saturdays.
The City Wide Art Show is a longstanding spring tradition in Dearborn, a collaboration between the district and the city. DPS art teachers select pieces of student artwork to be displayed at the show, highlighting student artists in kindergarten through high school. Exhibits will include both two-dimensional and three dimensional work created from a variety of mediums.
Some high school artists will also have special features. Those students are: Nesreen Husseini from Virtual K-12, Amina Bazzi and Maria Alashwal from the Berry Career Center, Neveen Haidar from Dearborn High, Amani Mukbel and Mia Morabito from Edsel Ford High, and Katie Hetherington and Sunen Aljawad from Fordson High. Videos featuring the different artists will be posted on the district’s YouTube Channel.
Besides the opening reception, the public is also invited to two Saturday events for student art demonstrations in the gallery. These will occur from noon to 2 p.m., and April 12 and from 6 to 8 p.m. April 26.
