RIVERVIEW –  City officials thanked the West Bloomfield Township Fire Department June 16 for the donation of a Fire Safety trailer, as well as donors whose contributions will help refurbish it.

West Bloomfield Assistant Fire Chief Mark Lawry accepted a proclamation from the city of Riverview.

The Fire Safety trailer, which serves as an educational tool, is a fully-functional, two-story mobile unit that simulates a bedroom and kitchen area, and will significantly enhance the city’s public fire safety training for children and families.

The trailer will be used at community outreach events such as Summerfest, fire department open houses and during school visits.

A new safety trailer would cost in the range of $40,000 to $100,000, with the donation exemplifying the highest ideals of inter-departmental cooperation, public service and community-minded generosity, officials said.

Members of the Riverview Fire Department have volunteered to help with the trailer restoration.

Donations from community groups and individuals to help restore the trailer raised more than $7,100, including the following donations: $3,000 from Ceaser Capital Management and Miko and Mike Ceaser, $500 from Mayor Andrew Swift and first lady Darlene Swift, $500 from the Riverview Kiwanis, $500 for the Riverview Knights of Columbus, $500 from Riverview Rotary, $500 from Riverview Towing, $500 from Piramal Pharma Solutions, $500 from W. F. Whelan Co., $500 from Biundo Cement Co., $100 for Bruce and Karen Pease, and $50 from Carey Ann the Clown.
