HEIGHTS — A woman who lost her job in June learned on June 21 when she went to file for unemployment benefits through Michigan Works that someone had fraudulently used her Social Security number and had filed for benefits five years earlier.

A Michigan Works employee said the wrong name and birth date was used in 2020 in conjunction with her Social Security number.
