HEIGHTS – Residents will narrow the mayoral candidate field to two during the Aug. 5 primary, with voters choosing from Hussein Anani, Lena Arzouni, Mo Baydoun and Denise Malinowski-Maxwell.
The two top vote getters will advance to the Nov. 4 general election, which will also determine the city clerk, treasurer and four of the city council seats.
HUSSEIN ANANI is a small business owner who has worked in construction, led teams and managed complex budgets.
He is concerned with the city’s flooded homes, crumbling roads and unfair bills, and he is committed to transparency and fiscal discipline.

LENA ARZOUNI has a background in business management, worked in the banking industry for 20 years, and has leadership and management experience and a strong financial background.
Her priorities include public safety, budgeting by establishing a master plan for the city and providing transparency.

MO BAYDOUN, the current City Council president, is a small business owner and a Wayne County Sherrif reserve officer.
He plans to continue to address blight, enhance public safety and modernize city services.

DENISE MALINOWSKI-MAXWELL is currently on the City Council, is a past council chair, and served briefly as the city’s interim mayor. She is retired from AT&T and also worked as a real estate agent.
Her priorities include public safety, equitable code enforcement, flooding along the Ecorse Creek and the maintenance of the Warren Valley Golf Course as a flood plain.
