HEIGHTS – Interim Mayor Mo Baydoun will continue as mayor following the Nov. 4 election, with Lisa Hicks-Clayton continuing as city treasurer.
Mo Baydoun received 5,973 votes to Denise Malinowski-Maxwell’s 2,781 votes.
Hicks-Clayton will remain as city treasurer, receiving 5,351 votes to challenger Mahdi Baydoun’s 2,864 votes.
Incumbent Lynne Senia ran unopposed for the city clerk position.
The partial city council race will return incumbents Hassan Ahmad, Nancy Bryer and Tom Wencel to the body, with challenger Margaret King joining the council. Political activist Rachel LaPointe missed winning a council seat by 47 votes.
Tom Wencel has indicated that, despite his earlier statements to the contrary, he is likely to accept the city council seat.
The council vote tallies were: Ahmad (5,154 votes), Bryer (4,924), King (4,747), Wencel (4,476) and LaPointe (4,429).
A resolution certifying a proposal to renew the building and sinking fund for the Dearborn Heights School District 7 passed by a two-thirds majority, with 1,104 yes votes and 564 no votes.
