RIVERVIEW — A woman reported Jan. 9 that a house she had found for rent on Facebook Marketplace, in the 18000 block of Hamann Street, was actually only for sale, with a con artist providing her with a lock box code to visit the house.

She said she was not out any money, but she did have text messages to verify her claim. When a police officer called the phone number, the call went to an unidentified voice mail.

The police officer then contacted the Realtor, advised them of the scam, and advised them to change the lock box code.
