HEIGHTS – For their work with the Police Explorer program and many other initiatives, the city recognized Police Officer Khalil Hojeij and Sgt. Mohamad Bazzy during the June 23 City Council meeting.
Hojeij began his career in public safety in 2005, and worked with the Phoenix Police Department and the Dearborn Police Department before joining the Dearborn Heights Police Department.
He has served as a school resource officer and a community service officer, and has supported and developed community engagement programs, including Youth Police Academies, the Police Explorer Program, and National Night Out.
Hojeij has also worked with schools and community leaders to support public safety initiatives and emergency preparedness training.
Bazzy has served as a field training officer, a SWAT team member, a road patrol sergeant, and as supervisor of both cadet and jail operations.
In his current role as community service sergeant, he has worked closely with residents, businesses, schools and community organizations to strengthen relationships and enhance public safety throughout Dearborn Heights.
He serves as an advisor to the Police Explorer Program, and mentors young people interested in a career in public service.
