RIVERVIEW — A woman reported that on Sept. 6 she received a phone call indicating that her daughter was in the Monroe County jail and needed $750 to post bail.
The woman sent the money via Cash App, but after she called the Monroe County jail, she discovered that her daughter was not in custody.
The victim said she had contacted both Cash App and her bank about the incident. She said she did not provide the scammer with any personal information. She did forward screen shots of the financial transactions to the police detective bureau.
