Janice Kalmbach was recognized by the Wyandotte Public Schools Board of Education June 4 for her service to the district. Kalmbach retired at the beginning of this year from the district’s Joe Brighton Skill Center for Special Education. She spent 16 years as a full-time teacher with the district and was a substitute teacher before being hired. Kalmbach still volunteers her time as a student council advisor. Supt. Carla Harding presented Kalmbach with the bell and said she cared deeply and possessed a strong sense of responsibility for students, kept the best interests of the students in mind, and “is a well respected individual” in the community.
