State Rep. Alex Garza (D-12th District, left) receives a standing ovation during the Dec. 20 Taylor City Council meeting, during which he was recognized for his service to the city. Garza lost his re-election bid to the state House, due in part to redistricting. He served on the Taylor City Council from 2013 to 2018, in the House from 2019 to 2022, and was the youngest Latino ever elected to the House.
