WYANDOTTE — A 38-year-old Wyandotte man who was subject to a traffic stop the afternoon of March 9 for speeding and running a stop sign near Alkali Avenue and 6th Street later fled the scene but left his driver’s license behind.

The man produced an Arizona driver’s license, and was not cooperative with the police officer, lowering his heavily tinted windows only a few inches.

When the police officer discovered that the man had multiple arrest warrants, he ordered him out of the vehicle, but the man refused to cooperate and fled the scene at a high rate of speed.

The officer pursued the man north on Biddle Avenue into Ecorse until he terminated the pursuit due to the driver’s reckless flight, the amount of vehicle traffic and the fact that he knew the driver’s identification. The man is facing a criminal charge of fleeing and eluding.
