WYANDOTTE — A 30-year-old Detroit man was observed riding a moped with a bottle of Hennessey liquor strapped to the handlebars the afternoon of Sept. 2, in the 2000 block of 10th Street.

The man was also driving 40 mph in a residential neighborhood. When the police officer initiated a traffic stop, the man attempted to flee, accelerating and running a stop sign. He then drove onto the sidewalk and tried unsuccessfully to hide in a nearby backyard.

The man had a suspended license, multiple fugitive arrest warrants and was driving a moped that was unregistered and uninsured. The moped was impounded, and he was charged with several misdemeanors.
