WYANDOTTE — Deputy Police Chief Kenneth Groat pursued and arrested a 20-year-old Wyandotte woman who ran a red light on westbound Eureka Road at 12th Street the afternoon of Aug. 26 and nearly struck his vehicle when he was turning left from 12th Street onto eastbound Eureka Road at a green light.
The women attempted to flee a traffic stop by driving at a high rate of speed even after Groat activated his lights and siren.
During the chase, she deliberately hit a patch of mud to spray the material on the pursuing police vehicle, while also flipping him a familiar digital salute while driving 60 mph and blowing through several stop signs.
Eventually, the woman realized that she wasn’t going to outrun the deputy chief, so she pulled over near 16th and Orchard streets, jumped out of her vehicle, and started to verbally attack him.
She was subsequently handcuffed and charged with fleeing and eluding, possession of open alcohol in a motor vehicle and with violating her restricted driver’s license.
