RIVERVIEW — A 47-year-old Taylor woman was arrested for drunken driving March 7 after her sudden lane change on Fort Street caused another driver to collide with the rear passenger side bumper of her vehicle.

The impaired driver said she changed lanes suddenly because she needed to pull into a gas station to use the restroom. Her speech was slurred, her eyes were red and glossy, and she failed several times to produce her requested documents. She was also unsteady on her feet.

The woman admitted to drinking earlier at a bar in Taylor, and failed standardized field sobriety tests.

A preliminary breath test was administered, and the woman had a blood-alcohol content of 0.19, more than twice the 0.08 limit for legally drunk in Michigan.

Her vehicle was impounded and towed, and she was taken into custody until sober.
