TAYLOR — A 45-year-old Taylor man with a 4-year-old child in the car was arrested March 24 for operating under the influence of alcohol and child endangerment after he struck several parked cars on Goddard Court near Goddard Road.
The man had slurred speech and smelled of intoxicants. He failed multiple standardized field sobriety tests, and refused to take a preliminary breath test.
His vehicle was impounded and towed, and he was taken to Corewell Health Hospital in Taylor for a blood draw, to which he consented.
The man then was taken to the Taylor police station, where a preliminary breath test was administered. The man had a blood-alcohol content of 0.308, almost four times the 0.08 limit for legally drunk in Michigan. Due to his high BAC level, the man was returned to the hospital for treatment.
The 4-year-old was turned over to her mother.
