TAYLOR – The Aug. 5 primary election narrowed the mayoral race from four to two candidates, and eliminated one of the treasurer candidates and two of the 16 original City Council candidates.
Tim Woolley, with 4,232 votes (70.66 percent) and Herman “Butch” Ramik, with 1,072 votes (17.9 percent) will compete for mayor in the November general election.
Mayoral candidates Timothy Long, with 400 votes (6.68 percent), and David Mortensen with 268 votes (4.47 percent) will not advance.
Of the three city treasurer candidates, Amira Garza, with 2,507 votes (43.97 percent), and Nicone Dragone, with 1,750 votes (30.7 percent), will advance to the November general election.
Treasurer candidate Ann Block, with 1,434 votes (25.15 percent), will not be on the November ballot.
In the council race for seven seats, two of the 16 candidates were eliminated during the primary: Martin Drouillard, with 1,190 votes (19.43 percent) and Tedario Edmond, with 692 votes (11.3 percent).
Advancing to the November council race are: incumbent Charley Johnson, 3,585 votes (58.55 percent), Ron Thiede, 2,606 votes (42.56 percent), Gerald P. Thomas, 2,428 votes (39.65 percent), Christian Armstrong, 2,388 votes (39.0 percent); Dan Wallace, 2,311 votes (37.74 percent), William Patts, 2,263 votes (36.96 percent), incumbent Jill Brandana, 2,095 votes (34.22 percent), incumbent Lindsey Rose, 2,072 votes (33.84 percent), Christine Gersky, 2,041 votes (33.33 percent), incumbent Tina Daniels, 2,013 votes (32.88 percent), Richard Pratt, 1,900 votes (31.03 percent), Chris Clark, 1,783 votes (29.12 percent), Justin Mordarski, 1,415 votes (23.11 percent), and Daniel Dobbins, 1,405 votes (22.95 percent).
Incumbent City Clerk Cynthia Bower is running unopposed.
A total of 6,123 of 49,523 registered voters (12.36 percent) cast ballots.
