WYANDOTTE — A 39-year-old Ypsilanti man on a moped without a registration sticker, who was carrying a large box, tried to flee a traffic stop the night of Aug. 12 on Fort Street.

A police officer pursued the man through Wyandotte, Lincoln Park, Ecorse and Detroit, and finally apprehended him on Clark Avenue south of Fort Street when his moped became stuck on railroad tracks.

The suspect was carrying a box with a brand new $349 surround sound system. The moped was also found to be stolen.

The man was wanted by the Michigan Department of Corrections for being a parole absconder and was taken into custody.
