RIVERVIEW — A 33-year-old Taylor man was arrested at 1:49 a.m. Aug. 8 for operating under the influence of alcohol after he showed up at his ex-girlfriend’s apartment complex after threatening to kill her.
The woman who reported the threat to her safety said the man had assaulted her earlier in the day in Taylor and had threatened that he would go to her apartment in Riverview and kill her.
She said the man was known to carry firearms, drove a dark blue Ford F-150 pickup and was likely intoxicated.
The responding police officers saw a pickup matching the description drive by the woman’s apartment building. A police vehicle followed it, and a traffic stop was initiated.
The man was asked to step out of the vehicle and was handcuffed. His pickup was searched, with nothing of evidentiary value found.
The man’s eyes were glossy and watery, and he admitted to drinking earlier. Standardized field sobriety tests were administered, which he failed.
A preliminary breath test was administered, and the man had a blood-alcohol content of 0.172, more than twice the 0.08 limit for legally drunk in Michigan.
He was arrested for operating while impaired and his vehicle was impounded and towed.
