WYANDOTTE — A 25-year-old Redford man was arrested at 11:39 p.m. May 31 near Goddard Road and Fort Street when he tried to reach into his pocket for a weapon following a traffic stop for defective equipment.

The man, who was acting frantic, speaking incoherently and shaking, was suspected to be under the influence of narcotics and was asked to exit his vehicle.

Once he was out of his vehicle, the man tried to reach into his jacket pocket, which caused the police officers to grab the man to prevent him from accessing a possible weapon. Following a struggle, he was handcuffed, and a throwing knife was found in the pocket.

He was arrested for carrying a dangerous weapon, for resisting arrest, and for obstructing police officers.
