WYANDOTTE — A 49-year-old Detroit man was arrested the night of July 18 and charged with larceny, burglary, and with resisting and obstructing police officers after he tried to flee on a stolen e-bike and later on foot.
The man was reported for breaking into a garage near 11th Street and Alkali Avenue, where he was attempting to steal a bicycle and an e-bike. When police officers approached, he sped off on the e-bike until it crashed, then attempted to elude police on foot.
When he was apprehended, he had cash, identification that was not his, jewelry and iPhones in his possession, which were all likely stolen property.
He was later found to have a history of criminal sexual conduct, assault with intent to do great bodily harm, and assault with a dangerous weapon.
