The Taylor School District and Special Olympics partnered for the inaugural Taylor Unified Special Olympics Day May 20 on the grounds of the former Kennedy High School. The event partnered people with and without intellectual disabilities on the same teams. A parade of athletes and opening ceremonies kicked off the event which had students, staff, volunteers, Taylor Police and Fire department personnel and local emergency medical services providers as participants. From top to bottom, a student races a Taylor police officer, students enjoy playing with bubbles, and a student plays a game of bowling alongside a volunteer.
