DEARBORN – The Dearborn Public Library will virtually host authors Kevin Hensley, Kimberly Hughes and Tim Hauser for a Zoom conversation at 6:30 p.m. April 27 for a discussion of their book “The Promise: The Stories of Four Burn Pit Survivor Families Who Found Friendship in Their Fight to Win the Largest Veteran Medical Bill in American History.”
Attendees will have the option to view the event from a personal device or watch the broadcast in the Henry Ford Centennial Library Auditorium, 16301 Michigan Ave.
“The Promise” tells the stories of four military families that fought for justice and legislation to address the dangerously toxic practice of burn pits which poisoned and killed American service members on foreign soil. As a result of their efforts, the Promising to Address Comprehensive Toxins Act was signed into law on Aug. 10, 2022 – the largest bill providing healthcare and benefits to veterans to date.
Copies of “The Promise” will be available for purchase during the event for auditorium attendees.
All three authors – Hensley, Hughes, and Hauser – will join to talk about their efforts to get the PACT Act passed and how veterans can learn about the kinds of benefits that they are entitled to if they have been exposed to burn pits during their service.
The registration page can be accessed at bit.ly/3KUXSY6, or locate the event in the Library’s events calendar at dearbornlibrary.org.
While registering, indicate whether you will attend in the auditorium, or on Zoom. The Zoom link will be emailed to registrants.
