Dearborn Rotarians welcomed Rotary 6400 District Governor Nick Krayacich (back row center) to its Sept. 19 meeting at Henry Ford Centennial Library in Dearborn.
An evening of networking, games, tasty brews, sweet treats and support for local initiatives
DEARBORN — The Rotary Club of Dearborn will host “Sips, Sweets and Support: A Tasting Experience” from 10 a.m. to noon Oct. 12 at Diwan Café, 5125 Schaefer Road.
The public is invited to join in networking, games, and prizes while sipping rich brews, indulging in sweet treats, and learning about the many service initiatives of Rotary – locally and worldwide.
Tickets to attend this intergenerational two-hour tasting event are $25. Proceeds will be used for local service supporting literacy, youth, seniors and people with special needs. Tickets are available at www.dearbornrotary.org/events.
Among its many initiatives, the Rotary Club of Dearborn awards more than $70,000 annually in scholarships to help outstanding youth with college and vocational expenses.
Additional donations will be welcomed to support Rotary’s efforts to raise awareness for polio eradication and in support of World Polio Day Oct. 24. Rotary has been working to eradicate polio for 35 years — reducing polio cases by more than 99.9 percent worldwide.
“We want to give special thanks to Diwan Café for hosting this event as well as Dearborn Rotarian Nagham Alsamari and her committee for helping to organize the first-ever ‘Sips, Sweets and Support,’” said David Anderson, 2024-25 club president. “If you’re not familiar with Rotary and want to know more, we look forward to welcoming you.”
In 2023, Dearborn Rotary celebrated its 100th anniversary with a gala event with a donation of $70,000 from the Dearborn Rotary Foundation to the city of Dearborn to help to renovate the Henry Ford Centennial Library auditorium, meeting current ADA standards for accessible design and seating and to upgrade technology.
Dearborn Rotarians meet at noon on the first and third Thursday of every month in Room 15 on the Mezzannine level of HFCL, 16301 Michigan Ave.
