TAYLOR — The Taylor Winterfest celebration is scheduled for Dec. 6 with daylong activities at Heritage Park including a morning run, afternoon parade and evening official tree lighting and fireworks.

The Taylor Winterfest Goodfellows Hot Cocoa 5K/Walk offers adult and children’s options and kicks off the city’s annual holiday season celebration day. The children’s run starts at 9:30 a.m. with 5K following at 10 a.m.

Online registrations offer various discounts for signing up early – it is $40 until Dec. 1 and $45 the day of the race. The children’s one-mile fun run is just $25 through Dec. 1 and $30 the day of the race.

Registration includes finisher medals, long sleeve T-shirts, runner snacks and treats, age group awards and hot cocoa at the finish line. In addition, Taylor police have committed to making fresh pancakes onsite this year.

All proceeds go to the Taylor Goodfellows.

The Winterfest parade steps off at 5 p.m. at the Taylor Recreation Center, 22805 Goddard Road. The units will march down Pardee Road to the park and eventually enter the pavilion, where music will play, holiday characters will perform, and arts and crafts will entertain the young.

Pardee will be closed between Goddard and Northline for about 45 minutes between 5 and 6 p.m. to let the parade through. Once the parade enters the park, Pardee will reopen.

Activities in the Sheridan Open Air Pavilion will run from 4 to 7 p.m. and include:

• Free pictures with Santa after the tree lighting.

• Free visit and photo opportunity with Grinch.

• Live ice carving.

• Free holiday crafts.

• Hot cocoa and drinks for purchase.

• Face painting for purchase.

• Food trucks for purchase.

Sarah Sherrard and the Sugar Ham Band will be live on stage at the pavilion. Carey Ann the Clown will serve as the master of ceremonies. She’ll introduce Mayor Tim Woolley who will in turn introduce Santa and Mrs. Claus. The official tree-lighting will take place. Fireworks cap off the evening.
