DEARBORN – The American Association of University Women Dearborn branch announced that its annual used book sale will run Oct. 4 to 6, offering bookworm bargains at the Dearborn Ice Skating Center.

The DISC, 14900 Ford Road, houses the annual event, which offers adult and children’s books, rare books, vinyl records, CDs and DVDs.

A $15 early bird fee allows those who want a “first crack” at the book sale to browse the selections from 9 to 11 a.m. opening day.

The sale opens to the public, with free admission, at 11 a.m. Oct. 4, and runs until 8 p.m., with $1 for paperbacks and $2 hardcovers.

From 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Oct. 5, books will be half off, and from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 6, $8 allows customers to fill a bag with books.

The book sale features 20 categories of fiction and non-fiction, with children’s books housed in a separate room.

Special antiquarian vintage books are available for $10 each.

The Dearborn AAUW also will sell T-shirts, mugs and bags emblazoned with its logo, “Empowering Women,” as well as book art made by its members.

Proceeds from the sale provide educational support at Henry Ford College and University of Michigan-Dearborn.

The AAUW, founded in 1881, is a national non-profit with community-based chapters that help women and girls overcome barriers and lead successful lives.

The Dearborn chapter celebrated its 90th anniversary last year. For more information about the local group, go to dearborn-mi.aauw.net.
