DEARBORN – Classic cars from the 1930s to the 1970s drew appreciative crowds to Greenfield Village June 14 and 15 for Motor Muster, which spotlighted the 70th anniversary of the Ford Thunderbird.

The Thunderbird, introduced in 1955, was designed as a personal sports car with luxury options. It began as a convertible two-seater, then became even more popular in 1958 when a back seat was added.

Select Thunderbirds at Motor Muster were on display at the Detroit Central Market pavilion.

During the weekend, vehicles passed in review down Main Street with a color commentary, including production history and other stories about the vehicles.

Father’s Day drew families to the event, which featured musical entertainment, interactive historical displays and Historic Base Ball.

Classic cars were displayed by vintage, with those from 1930s, 1940s and 1950s on the Village Green.

Vehicles from the 1950s to 1960s were on Maple Lane between Post Street and Burbank Lane, and vehicles from the 1960s and 1970s were on Maple Lane south of Burbank Lane.

Commercial vehicles and motorcycles drew attendees to Christie Street south of Post Street, with Mopar, military and race vehicles on display west of the Village Green.

Cars from the 1890s to 1932 will be in the spotlight Sept. 6 to 7 during Greenfield Village’s Old Car Festival.
