DEARBORN — The Vintage and Collectible Book Sale, organized by the American Association of University Women’s Dearborn affiliate, will feature books ranging from the mid-1800s to recent years.
The book sale is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 25 at Dearborn Historical Museum McFadden-Ross House, 915 S. Brady.

Included will be sets with full-page illustrations, scholarly works and Dearborn/Detroit accounts. The books are culled from the thousands offered for sale at the AAUW’s annual fall sale at the Dearborn Ice Skating Center.
Books at the April sale are priced from $3 to $100. Among them are Fedor Dostoieffsky’s (sic) “Crime and Punishment” (J.M. Dent & Sons; E.F. Dutton & Co., Everyman’s Library, undated); longtime University of Michigan president James Burrill Angell’s rare “Selected Addresses” (Longmans, Green, and Co., 1912); and E. Cobham Brewer’s richly illustrated eight-volume set “Character Sketches of Romance, Fiction and the Drama” (Selmar Hess, 1902).
In addition to books, the sale will feature “empowering women” merchandise and handmade Crafty Creations items.
Proceeds provide scholarship support for Henry Ford College and the University of Michigan-Dearborn, as well as educational activities for the Dearborn Public Schools.
The AAUW fall sale is in its 73rd year, and the vintage and collectible sale is in its fourth.
The AAUW was founded in 1881, and the Dearborn affiliate in 1933. Both are nonprofit, community-based organizations helping women and girls overcome barriers to leading successful lives.
